Welling United have secured the services of Gillingham defender Jack Evans on a month’s loan deal.
The eighteen year old will join up with Jamie Day’s side ahead of their Blue Square Bet South league fixture with Basingstoke on Tuesday night.
The Wings have had an excellent start to the season, sitting second in the table behind leaders Woking and Evans will be utilised by Day and his Assistant Manager, former Gills defender Barry Ashby.
Evans will also have former Gills players Andy Pugh, Luis Cumbers and Andy Sambrook at Park View Road.
The defender made his first team debut for The Gills in the 5-2 win over Torquay United in October, but boss Andy Hessenthaler has allowed him out on loan to gain some valuable experience.
Evans is expected to be the first of many fringe players to be allowed out on loan over the coming month with goalkeeper Daren Hawkes currently on loan at Maidstone United with defenders Callum Davies and Connor Essam expected to be matched with clubs soon.
